THEIR STORY.

- before/the fall: from a small town that tried to live like normal because what happened in the sky was, frankly, none of their business. her only family, her mom, went missing when the fall occured; while this wasn't anything new, her mom not coming back a few days later was. remy's neighbours left town to find somewhere even more remote. they let remy tag along but it wasn't long before she was treated as hired help (without the pay). deciding she can get by better on her own, she left.
- outlanders. she encountered another girl in rubble that used to be a city and together they survived. cue: a new family (rio hyun, whose surname remy insisted on adopting), a new community (the outlanders and their underground city), and a new life (enter smuggler remy hyun).
- betrayal, or: under the veil and far away. 12 years ago, remy and rio are scavenging for supplies on the surface. drones descend, their party's third disappears in a manner too convenient, and they're apprehended. given implants. moved to a pres city for the next 5 years until dislinked catches wind of remy's malfunctioning chip. she would only allow these total weirdos to extract her if they ler her bring rio, and so the sisters undergo unveiling.
- nelson, NZ. the dislinked relocated the hyuns to an unveiled city to recover. remy worked as security, definitely not earning extra cash in an underground fighting ring, why would she ever do that, that's preposterous. rio had her sights set on dislinked but remy, despite what the resistance had done for them, remained deeeply skeptical.
- dislinked. rio joined dislinked as soon as she could and for the first time, remy didn't follow. ... okay she did six months later when she couldn't handle not knowing what was happening. she was originally recruited for ground forces on account of her skills as a fighter but she didn't deem that up to her standards (go big or go home) and went for fighter pilot.
